As part of its CSR activities, Marathon Trading supports the Cyprus based NGO Sophia For Children and contributes to the organization's main activities and goals. Marathon Trading, with Special Edition SIGG bottles exclusively designed for Sophia for Children, gives all proceeds from the sale to providing drinking water to children living in areas severely affected by Climate Change.
Sophia For Children was established in 2008 by Cypriot volunteers, with an aim to fight poverty and its repercussions, mainly concentrating on the most vulnerable social group, that of children.
The main activities are concentrated on children living in Kenya, while their operations aim to provide safety, board and lodging, healthcare and most importantly education, focusing on abandoned and abused children, HIV positive, as well as children held captive in juvenile prisons. In the Turkana desert, an area greatly affected by climate change and extreme drought, the Sophia for Children supports communities with clean water and food while maintaining mechanical water-wells for clean water for both people and livestock.
